In a heartwarming gesture to honor the invaluable contributions of Filipino seafarers, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Railway Sector, in cooperation with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), is proud to announce free train rides for seafarers this coming Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in celebration of the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.
This initiative aims to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of Filipino maritime professionals who serve as the backbone of global commerce and are considered modern-day heroes.
Seafarers can avail themselves of the complimentary rides on the following railway lines at the specified times:
- LRT-2:
- Morning: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- Afternoon: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- MRT-3:
- From 5:30 AM until the end of service hours
To avail of the free ride, all seafarers are simply required to present any of their valid identification documents, including their Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB), Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID), or Seafarer’s Identification Booklet (SIB), to the station personnel.
The DOTr and MARINA encourage all eligible seafarers to take advantage of this special offering as a token of appreciation for their significant role in the national and global economy.
