The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in unwavering collaboration with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), and Airport Police Department (APD), continues its intensified operations against illegal “colorum” and errant taxi drivers operating within the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) complex.
These rigorous enforcement efforts are in direct response to the directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., aimed at ensuring that all taxis serving the airport are legitimate, properly franchised, and that passengers are charged fair and regulated fares. The joint operation underscores the government’s commitment to providing a safe, reliable, and transparent transportation experience for all travelers arriving at and departing from NAIA.
In a recent operation conducted this week, specifically on June 22, LTO and LTFRB operatives successfully apprehended a taxi in front of NAIA Terminal 3. While the vehicle possessed a valid franchise, the driver was found to be operating without a proper license. Furthermore, the apprehension revealed additional vehicle violations, including a damaged windshield and a bald tire, posing significant safety concerns.
The DOTr, LTO, LTFRB, MIAA, and APD collectively affirm their dedication to sustaining and escalating these operations. This concerted effort is crucial to eradicate illegal practices, maintain order, and ultimately guarantee the safety and fair treatment of all passengers utilizing taxi services at NAIA. The public can expect continuous vigilance from these agencies to uphold transportation standards and protect commuter welfare.
