India’s Hero Motocorp explores e-motorcycle project in PH

Hero Motocorp., India’s leading motorcycle manufacturer and world’s largest motorcycle and scooter producer, is exploring the potential of producing e-motorcycles to expand its operations in the Philippines.
Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso O. Panga held a meeting with the executives of Hero during President Marcos Jr’s recent official visit to India.
While there was no commitment yet from Hero during their recent meeting, they are scheduled to meet again in Manila.
Hero has an existing operation at the Laguna International Industrial Park in partnership with Terrafirma Motors Corp., a part of the Columbian Group of Companies of business Jose Ch. Alvarez.
It opened operations in LIIP last year for the manufacture of affordable motorcycle models for the local market. Hero is present in 48 countries and been manufacturing for 41 years.

In March this year, the Indian firm announced its diversification into electric three-wheeler category following its acquisition of a significant stake in Euler Motors.

Its foray into e-motorcycles is a bold step towards realizing the company’s vision to “Be the Future of Mobility.”

“This investment reinforces our commitment to accelerated growth through both organic and inorganic expansion, while highlighting the power of collaboration and adaptability in an ever-evolving market. As a global automotive leader, Hero MotoCorp is driven by sustainability, innovation and customer-centric progress. As we strengthen and diversify our presence in emerging mobility landscape, this investment allows Hero MotoCorp to venture into a rapidly growing electric three and four-wheeler market, while unlocking adjacent business opportunities and continuing to cement its leadership in the future of sustainable mobility,” according to a previous company statement posted on its website.
