BOC reinforces anti-fuel smuggling efforts through enhanced partnership with SICPA S.A.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) recently reaffirmed its commitment to combating fuel smuggling and protecting national revenue through a high-level meeting with its key partner in the Fuel Marking Program, SICPA S.A. The session, led by Assistant Commissioner Vincent Philip C. Maronilla and the BOC-Fuel Marking Program Project Implementation team, served to acquaint the new BOC management with SICPA’s state-of-the-art marking and security technologies.

The meeting highlighted the critical role of these advanced solutions in preventing illicit trade, which aligns with the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to modernize enforcement programs and boost government revenue collection. The BOC’s Fuel Marking Program stands as a cornerstone of this initiative, contributing significantly to the national treasury.

During the presentation, SICPA S.A. showcased its comprehensive marking solutions, which are designed not only to safeguard government revenues but also to ensure transparency and foster fair competition within the country’s petroleum industry.

Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno emphasized the importance of this ongoing collaboration, stating, “Through this partnership, the Bureau enhances its monitoring and enforcement capabilities while promoting a safer and more efficient fuel market that will ultimately serve the interests of Filipino citizens.”

The strengthened partnership between the BOC and SICPA S.A. underscores the government’s resolve to curb illegal activities in the fuel sector, secure revenue for public services, and create a level playing field for legitimate businesses.
