The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced a 15-day extension for several key deadlines, including the validity of vehicle registrations, the renewal of driver’s licenses, and the settlement of traffic apprehension cases. This crucial adjustment is in response to government work cancellations and is aimed at providing relief to the public affected by recent severe weather and seismic activity.
All vehicle registrations that were originally scheduled to expire on September 30, 2025, will now remain valid until October 15, 2025.
Similarly, driver’s licenses due for renewal on or before September 30, 2025, may now be processed without penalty until October 15, 2025. This extended grace period ensures the public can complete their transactions without incurring additional fines or penalties.
The extension also covers Traffic Apprehension Cases. The 15-day period for settling these cases, which began on September 26, 2025, has also been adjusted. The new deadline for settlement is now October 15, 2025.
LTO leadership explained that the decision was made to assist individuals and businesses impacted by multiple recent calamities, which have caused significant disruption to daily life and government services.
The extension specifically addresses:
Government Work Suspensions: Cancellations of government work days across various areas.
Severe Weather: Heavy rains and flooding brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Typhoons Nando, Opong, and Paulo.
Seismic Activity: The communities in Cebu were affected by the recent severe earthquakes.
The LTO urges all affected motorists and license holders to take advantage of this grace period to complete their transactions and maintain compliance with all transportation laws.
