FIATA elects Dr. Thomas Sim as new president, vowing unity and global digital transformation

The FIATA International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations announced the election of its new Presidency and governance structure following the 2025 FIATA Electoral General Meeting held on October 10, 2025. The new team, comprising a diverse group of international logistics leaders, is poised to advance FIATA’s mission as the unified global voice of the freight forwarding community.

Taking the helm as President is Dr. Thomas Sim of the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA). Dr. Sim brings a wealth of experience and a clear vision for the Federation’s future, focusing on collaboration, transparency, and technological advancement.

Dr. Sim succeeds Mr. Turgut Erkeskin (UTIKAD, Türkiye), who now assumes the role of Immediate Past President. Mr. Erkeskin expressed his full confidence in the new Presidency, stating, “FIATA has strengthened its position as the global voice of freight forwarders, advancing digitalisation, sustainability, and collaboration. I know Dr. Sim and the new team will continue to build on this momentum for the benefit of all our members.”

FIATA extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Erkeskin and the outgoing leadership for their immense dedication and service to the global freight forwarding community.

Reflecting on his election, Dr. Sim shared his mandate and vision for the Federation:

“As your President, I pledge to continue serving with humility, transparency, and dedication—to be a bridge between cultures, sectors, and generations with a collaborative spirit, ensuring that our Federation remains not just relevant, but indispensable in shaping the future of logistics and trade. Our true strength lies in unity—in the collaboration of thousands of members across continents who believe in the same mission: to connect the world through logistics, to facilitate trade, and to create prosperity.”
