BOC public auctions generate over ₱106 million, boosting national revenue

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) generated more than ₱106 million from public auctions of seized and abandoned goods conducted across its major ports from July to September of this year. This significant revenue generation effort highlights the agency’s commitment to transforming unutilized resources into government funds that support national programs and fiscal stability.

The auctions, which were facilitated by the BOC’s Auction and Cargo Disposal Divisions in the Port of Manila (POM), Manila International Container Port (MICP), and Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), yielded a total of ₱106.9 million.

A wide array of forfeited shipments and abandoned goods were successfully disposed of, including:

Various consumer goods

Vehicles

Fuel products

Industrial materials

Furniture

Assorted merchandise

Commitment to Fiscal Stability and Transparency

The proceeds from these auctions are channeled directly into the BOC’s overall revenue collection, providing a vital contribution to government funds for essential public services and priority programs.

BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno underscored that these consistent and lawful disposals align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen the nation’s fiscal stability through improved customs processes.

“Through the consistent conduct of lawful and transparent auctions, the Bureau fulfills its dual mandate of protecting government revenues and facilitating legitimate trade,” Commissioner Nepomuceno stated.

The disposal of these goods is mandated by law, pursuant to Section 1118 and Sections 1139 to 1151 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), in relation to Customs Administrative Order (CAO) No. 03-2020, ensuring transparency and compliance with established procedures.

The BOC reaffirms its commitment to accountability and efficiency in all cargo disposal activities, ensuring government resources are fully optimized for the benefit of the Filipino people.
