BOC Commissioner Nepomuceno champions integrity and good governance at Malabon’s 40th Gintong Parangal Awards

Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno underscored the paramount importance of integrity as the foundation of public service and achievement during his keynote address at the 40th annual Gintong Parangal Awards, held on November 15, 2025, in Malabon City.

The Gintong Parangal, organized by Katiwasayan para sa Mamamayan / Kalipunan ng mga Samahan sa Malabon, Inc. (KaSaMa, Inc.) in partnership with the Malabon City Government, is an annual event that formally acknowledges individuals whose exemplary accomplishments bring honor to the city.

As a distinguished native of Malabon and a seasoned public servant, Commissioner Nepomuceno was invited to deliver the keynote speech. His personal journey, marked by academic achievements and a rise to high-ranking government roles, served as a powerful example of the values the city seeks to celebrate.

In his address, Commissioner Nepomuceno articulated his clear and resolute vision for the Bureau of Customs:

Eradicate the perennial problem of corruption.

Ensure the correct collection of duties and taxes for the government.

Uphold the principles of good governance.

The Commissioner pledged to carry out his mission without bringing shame to his hometown, expressing strong confidence that, under his leadership, the fight against smuggling would be significantly bolstered.

The central theme of the Commissioner’s remarks was the critical role of ethics and integrity in public life. He reminded the audience, which included over 270 awardees, that “integrity is the bedrock on which true accomplishments stand.”

He emphasized that without this ethical foundation, even the most celebrated achievements ultimately lose their meaning.

Commissioner Nepomuceno extended heartfelt congratulations to the awardees, expressing his deep gratitude and joy at sharing their moment of honor. His participation reaffirms his unwavering commitment not only to his hometown of Malabon but also to the broader Filipino people, reinforcing the message that true public leadership is rooted in ethical conduct.
