Local authorities have announced the immediate implementation of new, critical traffic regulations at the Atugan Bridge along the Sayre Highway in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon. These measures are essential to ensure the safety of all road users and to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge while crucial inspection and subsequent retrofitting works are being prepared.
The public is urged to adhere strictly to the following rules, which will take effect immediately:
1. For Light Vehicles:
-
Light vehicles with a maximum gross weight of five (5) tons or with six (6) wheels and below are allowed to continuously traverse both lanes of the bridge without restriction.
2. For Heavy Vehicles:
-
Heavy vehicles are permitted to cross but must follow a strictly managed, staggered approach to prevent excessive stress on the structure.
-
Mandatory Load Inspection: All heavy vehicles must undergo a load inspection by traffic personnel before crossing. Only those confirmed to be within allowable load limits will be permitted entry.
-
One-Vehicle Policy: Only one (1) heavy vehicle at a time shall be allowed to cross the bridge between designated control points. This is to prevent continuous queuing and dual loading, which can compromise the bridge structure.
-
Staggered Entry: Simultaneous entry of heavy vehicles from opposing directions is strictly prohibited. A succeeding heavy vehicle may proceed only after the previous unit has completely cleared the designated checkpoint on the bridge section.
A dry run implementing these new regulations will be conducted on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to midnight.
Authorities will conduct close and continuous monitoring of the Atugan Bridge while awaiting the release of funds necessary for the scheduled retrofitting works.
Motorists of light vehicles (maximum gross weight of five tons) are reminded that the Impasug-ong–Patulangan Bypass Road remains open and serves as a viable alternate route.
Local authorities sincerely apologize for the inconvenience these necessary restrictions may cause to the traveling public and transport operators. Your understanding and cooperation are highly appreciated as we expedite all necessary actions to restore normal traffic flow at the soonest possible time.
