FAST Logistics Group, a premier provider of end-to-end logistics solutions in the Philippines, today announced the launch of its innovative new crossdock facility and service, Flow by FAST. This system-guided solution is designed to revolutionize the delivery network for Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies, offering verified savings of up to 32% compared to traditional direct-to-store delivery (DTS) costs.
The new FAST hub, strategically located to serve modern trade retailers in South Luzon, directly addresses critical inefficiencies identified in an industry-wide network study.
The innovative Flow by FAST service is the culmination of a collaborative study conducted by FAST in partnership with the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP) and the country’s largest FMCG companies.
The study revealed that while 100% of participating FMCG companies utilized DTS deliveries—with 70% relying on it as their primary method—truck utilization stood at a mere 30–52%. This reliance on uneconomical, full-truckload rates for half-empty deliveries results in unnecessary costs and environmental strain.
Flow by FAST transforms the replenishment model by:
-
Consolidation and Efficiency: The new crossdock facility consolidates goods from multiple FMCG companies into optimal loads.
-
Cost Innovation: Companies in the network pay per space rather than incurring full truckload rates, securing cost efficiency, especially crucial for reliable product replenishment during peak seasons like the holidays.
-
Sustainability: By maximizing truck utilization and significantly reducing empty miles, the solution directly contributes to both efficiency goals and a lower carbon footprint.
-
Reliable Service: Deliveries are executed on fixed departure schedules that are aligned with specific retailer receiving windows, ensuring prompt and reliable store shelf replenishment.
“With Flow by FAST, every store delivery counts. No half-empty trucks, no wasted trips, no stockouts on shelves,” said Manuel L. Onrejas Jr., FAST CEO for Logistics. “Our goal is to help FMCG companies lower costs and reduce their carbon footprint, while ensuring Filipino families have easy access to the nation’s leading brands at their favorite supermarkets and retail stores.”
Flow by FAST leverages FAST’s extensive national network and real-time shipment tracking, ensuring full visibility from distribution centers to retail outlets. Mr. Onrejas emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative.
“At FAST, we are committed to serving as strategic partners for our clients, listening closely to our customers, and leveraging data to design smarter delivery solutions,” he added. “This is a solution for companies willing to collaborate to achieve outcomes that are a win for them, a win for the retailer, and most importantly, a win for each consumer.”
