Cebu Pacific (CEB) is taking immediate and proactive steps to comply with a mandatory, global technical advisory issued by Airbus, requiring an urgent software upgrade for its A320 and A321 aircraft fleet. This essential safety measure, necessitated by a potential technical issue related to intense solar radiation affecting the aircraft’s flight control computers, is a global requirement impacting carriers worldwide.
As of 2:30 AM (PST) on Saturday, November 29, 2025, CEB’s operations and engineering teams are working around-the-clock to implement the software updates across all affected aircraft to ensure full compliance with the directive. This precautionary action is being performed to uphold the highest standards of safety, which remains Cebu Pacific’s paramount priority.
Due to the mandatory grounding of affected aircraft to perform the necessary updates—a process that is estimated to take a few hours per aircraft—several domestic and international flights scheduled from November 29 to December 1, 2025, have been adjusted, including cancellations and delays.
-
Completion Target: CEB’s engineering teams are working diligently to complete the required upgrades. The airline anticipates that a significant portion of its fleet will have the updated software and be cleared for deployment by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) by Sunday, November 30, 2025.
-
Customer Assistance: Additional ground and airport staff have been deployed to provide assistance and re-accommodation for affected passengers.
CEB strongly advises all passengers traveling within the next 48 hours to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
