AirAsia Aviation Group (AirAsia) has begun implementing an urgent software rollback on its Airbus A320 Family fleet, in immediate compliance with a mandatory Airworthiness Directive (AD) issued by certification authorities.
The directive, which, according to media reports, could impact around 6,000 aircraft globally across the industry, is essential for upholding the highest standards of operational safety. The software change specifically targets the Airbus A320 Family and does not affect AirAsia’s Airbus A330 fleet.
AirAsia is prioritising the timely completion of the rollback and has taken immediate steps to adjust its flight operations accordingly. The Group aims to complete the mandated process within the next 48 hours.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, commented: “We are taking immediate steps to comply with the Airworthiness Directive and aim to complete the process within the next 48 hours, while ensuring minimal disruption to our guests. We seek our guests’ understanding, as these mandated measures are essential in upholding the highest standards of operational safety. We would also like to thank our engineering teams, who began the process immediately and are working around the clock to complete the required actions.”
AirAsia will directly notify guests on affected flights regarding service recovery options.
Guests are strongly encouraged to stay updated on their flight status through the following official channels:

AirAsia remains committed to the safety and well-being of its guests and crew as its top priority during this mandatory implementation period.
