BOC-NAIA and PDEA seize illegal drugs at Pasay City warehouse

The Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), successfully intercepted a shipment of abandoned inbound parcels containing various illegal drugs.

The operation, conducted on November 27, 2025, at a warehouse in Pasay City, resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of prohibited substances, including approximately 280 grams of marijuana kush, 394 cannabis tablets, and 77 grams of amphetamine. The dangerous drugs were found within parcels that were intentionally misdeclared in a clear attempt to evade customs inspection and detection.

BOC-NAIA District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa emphasized the Bureau’s commitment to border security. “Strengthening border protection remains a top priority,” Mapa stated. “This interception is part of our continuous commitment to keep our ports secure and to protect the public from harmful substances that pose a severe threat to our communities.”

The seized illegal drugs have been officially turned over to PDEA for proper documentation, forensic examination, and the filing of appropriate criminal charges. The suspects involved will face prosecution under Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno highlighted the Bureau’s comprehensive strategy to combat drug smuggling. “Our mandate to secure the nation’s borders goes beyond routine enforcement; it requires constant improvement, cooperation, and readiness,” Commissioner Nepomuceno noted. “We are investing in better systems, stronger coordination, and more robust safeguards to ensure that illegal drugs are stopped long before they reach our communities.”

The BOC and its partner agencies reaffirm their dedication to maintaining a constant state of vigilance against all forms of illicit trade at the country’s premier gateway.
