3 flagship infra projects worth PHP44 B completed this year

Three flagship infrastructure projects worth PHP44-billion are expected to be completed this year, bringing a total of 10 projects delivered by the Marcos administration since taking over in 2023, the Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev) said.

DEPDev Undersecretary Joseph J. Capuno for the Investment Programming Group (IPG) identified the three projects as  Central Luzon Link Expressway CCLEX Phase 1, NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project, and the Bukahana Bridge.

Central Luzon Link Expressway CCLEX Phase 1 project is a 30-kilometer four-lane expressway that connects Sarlac City to Cabanatuan City.

NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project is a 7.7-kilometer four-lane elevated expressway, extending the NLEX outward from the end of Segment 10 in C3 Road, Caloban City, to PUP Santa Mesa, Manila. It will connect the Skyway Stage 3 and traverse the PNR Rail Track.

The third is a relatively smaller project – the Davao River Bridge or the Bukahana Bridge project. This bridge will connect certain segments of the Davao River.

Capuno expects the full completion of these 3 projects this year given the 95 percent completion rate based on the last project monitoring report.

From 2023 to 2024, Capuno said seven IFPs had been completed with a total cost of PHP68.65 billion.

These are the Arterial Road Bypass Project Phase 3, which is intended to improve travel time and access in Bulacan; the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project, which is a major flood mitigation effort in Metro Manila; the Disaster Reseduction and Climate Adaptation Project for low-lying areas in Pampanga; the Philippines COVID-19 Emergency Response Project of the Department of Health; the Samar Pacific Coastal Road; the Flood Management Control Project along the Cabello de Oro River or the Cagayan de Oro River; and the Pangil Bay Bridge, now linking Misanis Occidental and Lanao del Norte.

Capuno also reported that some 40 projects are expected to be completed by 2028, while 39 will continue beyond 2028.

DEPDev has also identified 31 projects already approved for implementation, representing about PHP1.5 trillion. Nine are targeted for completion under this administration, and the remaining 22 will extend further.
