Poland’s JPP Marine eyes PH shipbuilding sector

JPP Marine, a Polish company engaged in shipbuilding as well as vessel operation and maintenance, has expressed strong interest in investing in the Philippines’ shipbuilding industry in partnership with existing shipbuilders registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

To formalize this interest, JPP Marine—represented by Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) Head Bartek Wasiewski—signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga on December 12, 2025, at the PEZA Head Office.

The MOU establishes a framework for conducting a feasibility study to identify potential ecozone sites and explore partnerships with PEZA-registered shipbuilders for localized shipbuilding activities serving both domestic and international markets.

Director General Panga said the initiative supports the Philippines’ goal of strengthening its maritime capabilities and positioning shipbuilding as a globally competitive industry.

In addition to the shipbuilding agreement, PEZA and PAIH signed a separate MOU aimed at strengthening bilateral investment and trade cooperation between the Philippines and Poland.

Under this agreement, PAIH is designated as PEZA’s official Investment Promotion Partner, reinforcing both agencies’ commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment flows.

As Poland’s lead agency for international investment and business expansion, PAIH assists foreign and Polish companies by navigating administrative and legal requirements, identifying suitable locations, and linking investors with reliable partners and suppliers.

Through this partnership, PEZA and PAIH seek to create a coordinated and enabling environment that accelerates investment collaboration, facilitates project development, and promotes mutually beneficial economic growth.

This partnership marks a significant milestone following PEZA’s investment mission to Poland in June 2025, which generated promising investment leads in renewable energy, data centers, and shipbuilding.

With the two MOUs now in place, Director General Panga said PEZA and its Polish counterparts are well-positioned to translate investment leads into concrete, long-term projects and expand opportunities for technology-driven, sustainable, and job-generating investments that support the Philippines’ industrial transformation and Poland’s global expansion efforts.
