President Marcos Jr. inaugurates PhP2.3 billion Camalaniugan Bridge

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officially led the inauguration of the PhP2.3 billion Camalaniugan Bridge today, marking a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to modernizing national infrastructure and fostering regional economic development.

The 2.16-kilometer, two-lane bridge spans the Cagayan River, providing a critical alternative to the Magapit Suspension Bridge. By connecting the municipalities of Aparri and Ballesteros, the bridge drastically reduces travel time from one hour to just 20 minutes, a change expected to benefit approximately 6,000 daily commuters and travelers.

During the ceremony, President Marcos highlighted the project as a blueprint for future infrastructure initiatives across the archipelago.

“I think this will serve as a model for many of the other bridge projects that we will be seeing around the country,” the President stated. He emphasized that the bridge is not merely a convenience but a necessity, noting that residents will no longer have to take long, circuitous routes to cross the river.

The President underscored the immediate socio-economic impact the bridge will have on nearby communities. By improving the movement of goods and people, the project is designed to unlock new commercial opportunities. “I am sure that this bridge will change the economy on both sides. This will give many opportunities for new jobs and new businesses, and I’m sure you will feel the economic effects in a very, very short time,” President Marcos added.

The Chief Executive commended the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for their efficiency and adherence to safety standards. He noted that the project was completed:

  • On Schedule: Meeting the government’s accelerated construction timeline.

  • Within Budget: Ensuring the PhP2.3 billion investment was utilized effectively.

  • To Standard: Meeting modern safety and traffic flow requirements.

The President concluded by assuring the public that the government remains dedicated to building vital infrastructure that translates directly into tangible benefits for every Filipino.
