Aeromexico has officially secured the title of the world’s most on-time global airline for the second year in a row, according to the Cirium 2025 On-Time Performance Review.
Achieving a remarkable 90.02% on-time performance across 188,859 flights, Aeromexico becomes only the second carrier in history to successfully defend the global title since Cirium launched its tracking program in 2009. The airline’s achievement highlights its ability to maintain industry-leading reliability while operating an expansive network across 23 countries.
The 2025 review reveals a tightening race for operational excellence. Aeromexico led a competitive global field, followed by Saudia (86.53%) and SAS (86.09%).
“Maintaining the top spot for two consecutive years is a rare feat that speaks to Aeromexico’s operational discipline,” said a Cirium spokesperson. “With a nearly four-percentage-point lead over the third-place finisher, they are setting a high bar for global aviation.”
The 2025 report also recognized excellence across specific markets and categories:
-
North America: Delta Air Lines continued its dominance, winning for the fifth consecutive year with an 80.90% on-time rate.
-
Latin America: Copa Airlines secured its 11th win—the most of any airline in Cirium history—with a 90.75% performance.
-
Middle East and Africa: Safair led the region with a 91.06% on-time rate.
-
Europe: Iberia Express defended its title for the third year running (88.94%).
-
Asia-Pacific: Philippine Airlines claimed its first-ever regional title (83.12%).
Qatar Airways was honored with the Cirium Platinum Award, recognizing the carrier’s operational excellence across a complex global hub network of nearly 200,000 flights.
Additionally, Virgin Atlantic took home the inaugural ‘Most Improved’ award. The airline demonstrated a significant operational turnaround, jumping from a 74.02% on-time rate in 2024 to 83.45% in 2025. This new category recognizes airlines that achieve substantial year-over-year gains while maintaining a high baseline of operational scale.
