Starlite Ferries and Chelsea Logistics has added a new vessel M/V Starlite Resilience bringing its fleet to 21 ships, serving sea travel along the Western Nautical Highway.
The new IACS-classed RoPax vessel is designed specifically for Philippine waters and strengthens domestic shipping along a vital inter-island route.
In a message during its official launch, MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan said the ship reflects the commitment of Starlite Ferries and Chelsea Logistics to modernizing domestic shipping and enhancing maritime safety.
“The addition of MV Starlite Resilience to the Starlite fleet is a testament to their commitment to the modernization of domestic shipping, and the enhancement of maritime safety and marine environment protection. With the addition of another new and IACS-classed ship—MV Starlite Resilience—the experience of our passengers will be more comfortable, enjoyable, and most importantly, safer as she travels at sea,” the Administrator said.
Built by Kegoya Dock in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, the vessel is 67.60 meters long with a 15.30-meter breadth.
Powered by two Yanmar marine diesel engines, it has a design speed of 14 to 17 knots. The ship is classed under the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NKK) and is designed specifically for its intended routes.
An improved version of Starlite Ferries’ Pioneer-vessel series, ‘Starlite Resilience’ features a bridge on the third deck for better navigation and operational safety.
It should be noted that Starlite Ferries has been granted Pioneering Status by MARINA for operations along the Roxas, Mindoro – Caticlan – Odiongan – Batangas – Romblon – Magdiwang – Culasi – Roxas route.
