Pres. Marcos Jr. commits to modernizing Philippine aviation to boost regional development and economic growth

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s dedicated commitment to transforming the nation’s aviation landscape through world-class infrastructure and enhanced regional connectivity.

Speaking at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, where he also witnessed the unveiling of the new Airbus A350-1000, the President emphasized that modernizing the country’s gateways is a cornerstone of the “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) vision.

“This Administration remains committed to upgrading infrastructure, modernizing airports, enhancing connectivity, and boosting the economy,” President Marcos stated. “These are our investments in mobility, in opportunity, and in national progress.”

The President highlighted several key projects currently underway, many of which are fueled by strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). These initiatives aim to decentralize economic growth by improving access to major tourist and business hubs:

  • Mindanao & Visayas Expansion: Construction of a new International Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at Davao International Airport and a Modular PTB at Siargao Airport.

  • Regional Upgrades: Modernization and expansion of Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental and Bohol-Panglao International Airport.

  • Tourism Support: Development of a new terminal at Caticlan Airport to streamline travel for visitors to Boracay.

  • NAIA Modernization: A comprehensive public-private framework to operate and maintain the Manila International Airport, featuring new facilities and immigration eGates designed for faster, safer, and more efficient travel.

President Marcos called upon the private sector to deepen its collaboration with the government. He noted that aviation-centered initiatives are vital to sharpening the Philippines’ global competitiveness and creating more jobs and opportunities for Filipinos.

The President concluded by envisioning a future where geographical barriers are minimized and economic opportunities are accessible to all. “Together, let us shape a Bagong Pilipinas where our people are free to explore, where our regions are better connected, and where opportunity is within reach,” he stressed.
