FedEx to invest USD80 M to expand Clark operation

Fedex, one of the world’s leading logistics companies, has committed to invest USD80 million in the Philippines as it transforms its existing operation in Clark into an Asian hub.

Joshua Bingcang, president and CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), told reporters during the Year-Starter Briefing on Thursday, Feb. 5, that the FedEx building will already cost USD80 million, but the equipment inside the building will probably cost twice as much.

FedEx is expected to complete its design in as early as three months to ensure start of construction in the third quarter of 2027. “They don’t want any disruption,” he said.

The new FedEx will total 80,000 square meters, more than double its existing 33,000 sqm facility in Clark.

As an Asian Hub, Bingcang said, the Clark facility can handle 20 flights a day from the current 3-4 morning flights.

FedEx principals are scheduled to inspect how the BCDA is proceeding with their own complementary airport infrastructure that will support requirement of its operation.

“They (FedEx) don’t want any disruption,” he said.
