The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reinforced its commitment to regional cooperation, modern maritime infrastructure, and technological innovation during the 45th ASEAN Ports Association (APA) Working Committee Meeting (WCM), held in Singapore from July 28 to 31, 2026.
The four-day international gathering brought together port authority representatives and industry delegates from across Southeast Asia to address crucial developments in regional port management, cross-border integration, and digital transformation.
The Philippine delegation was led by Atty. Eliz Amor L. David, Acting Senior Executive Assistant of the Office of the Assistant General Manager for Operations. Under her leadership, the delegation engaged in high-level discussions focused on adopting emerging technologies and implementing long-term modernization strategies for the port sector. “Active engagement in regional platforms like the ASEAN Ports Association allows us to align our national port capabilities with international digital and environmental standards,” said Atty. David. “Sharing solutions on emerging port technologies ensures that Southeast Asian maritime networks remain competitive, safe, and efficient.”
Beyond policy discussions, the Philippines played a central role in organizational governance. The APA Permanent Secretariat—which is permanently managed and hosted by the PPA—ensured the smooth execution and technical coordination of the annual meeting.
The Secretariat team was led by Mr. Neil G. Tuazon of the PPA Corporate Planning Department, supported by Ms. Athena De Ocampo. The team received recognition from delegates for providing seamless administrative and technical support throughout the proceedings.
