As part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the passenger experience, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is announcing a series of airline terminal reassignments at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Beginning March 29, 2026, several international carriers will transition between Terminals 1 and 3. These adjustments are designed to balance terminal loads, reduce congestion during peak hours, and provide travelers with more seamless transitions and improved access to airport amenities.
The following airlines will relocate their operations to better align with the airport’s long-term capacity optimization plan:
Relocating from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3:
-
Air China (CA)
-
China Eastern (MU)
-
Vietnam Airlines (VN)
-
Royal Brunei (BI)
-
Shenzhen Airlines (ZH)
Relocating from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1:
-
Philippines AirAsia (Z2) – International flights only
-
AirAsia Berhad (AK)
Following the initial transition, the second phase will focus on premium carrier placement:
Relocating from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3:
-
Japan Airlines (JL)
Airport authorities are working closely with the affected airlines to ensure a smooth transition. To avoid any inconvenience, passengers are strongly encouraged to:
-
Check Flight Status: Verify your terminal assignment through your airline’s official website or mobile app at least 48 hours before departure.
-
Review Travel Documents: Ensure that your booking confirmation reflects the updated terminal location.
-
Allow Extra Time: Arrive at the airport at least four hours before international departures during the initial transition period to account for any adjustments. “These changes represent our commitment to making NAIA more responsive to the needs of the modern traveler,” said the MIAA Operations Management. “By strategically redistributing airline operations, we can reduce queueing times and maximize the use of our current infrastructure.”
