PHILEXPORT and US Embassy Commercial Service explore strategic partnership to boost bilateral trade

In a move to strengthen long-standing economic ties, PHILEXPORT President Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis Jr. recently met with the U.S. Embassy Commercial Service Philippines, led by Holly Vineyard, to explore collaborative projects aimed at mutual economic growth.

The high-level meeting focused on identifying “win-win” trade opportunities, emphasizing the Philippines’ position as a reliable and values-aligned partner in the global supply chain.

During the discussions, Ortiz-Luis reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to being a rules-based trade partner for the United States, prioritizing quality, sustainability, and inclusive growth. He expressed PHILEXPORT’s readiness to work alongside U.S. counterparts to expand bilateral trade and unlock shared economic potential.

Holly Vineyard, Chief of the U.S. Embassy Trade and Investment unit, reciprocated the sentiment, designating the Philippines as a “priority partner” for the United States. This commitment to deeper cooperation comes at a significant milestone, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Philippines-United States relations.

Aligning with the current priorities of the Trump administration, Vineyard highlighted the potential for Philippine exporters to integrate American innovation into their operations. Key areas of focus include:

  • Green Technologies: Sustainable solutions to modernize production.

  • Advanced Machinery: U.S.-made equipment to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

PHILEXPORT Trustee for the Textiles Sector, Robert M. Young, provided concrete examples of the existing synergy between the two nations. He noted that Philippine exporters currently rely on high-quality U.S. raw materials, including:

  • Cotton for textile production.

  • Chemicals and Wood for various export-grade manufacturing sectors.

The meeting was also attended by PHILEXPORT Vice President for Advocacy, Communications and Special Concerns, Ma. Flordeliza C. Leong, alongside U.S. Embassy Trade and Investment Officer Katie Stuntz and Trade Specialist Alta Paraiso.
