LTFRB suspends operations of 3 TNCs for franchise violations

In line with the instruction of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. to improve the public transportation system in the country, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), under the guidance of DOTr Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Z. Lopez, has suspended the operation of three Transport Network Companies (TNCs) for one year due violations of franchise conditions.

LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the decision was issued after the three TNCs failed to respond to the show cause order (SCO) issued against them for failure to comply with the rules and regulations governing ride-hailing services in the country. They are the Leggo Information Technology Solutions, the Get Express Global Corporation and Ipara Technology and Solutions, Inc.

“They were given all the chance to respond and explain the violations they committed but they failed to do so. This is what happens when you ignore or disregard legal notices from the LTFRB, you will suffer the consequences of your action,” said Chairperson Mendoza.

The violation was the absence of active and internet-based digital technology for their partners and clients. The three were issued with separate SCOs but the LTFRB did not receive any response from them, resulting in the issuance of the order suspending their operation for at least one year.

“The decision is part of the LTFRB’s authority to regulate public land transportation services and to enforce compliance with its rules and orders, including the authority to suspend or cancel authorizations and impose regulatory measures for the protection of the riding public,” Chairperson Mendoza explained.

He then urged the public, particularly the commuters and ride-hailing services applicants, not to deal with the three companies while the suspension in in effect.

He said appropriate advisories were already issued to inform the public of the LTFRB decision against the three TNCs, “The public is likewise advised to exercise caution and to verify the regulatory status of service providers before engaging their services.”

Chairperson Mendoza also reminded TNCs and its partners to comply with the rules and regulations of the LTFRB in order to ensure a smooth transaction and operation of their services.
