The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is actively monitoring international flight operations following heightened regional tensions in the Middle East. The geopolitical situation has led to significant airspace restrictions and safety-related disruptions for carriers operating between the Philippines and the Gulf region.
Since February 28, 2026, a total of 23 international flights have been cancelled and three flights have been diverted as airlines prioritize the safety of passengers and crew.
The following airlines have adjusted their schedules in response to the evolving security environment:
| Airline | Cancelled Flights | Diverted Flights |
| Philippine Airlines | 8 | 2 |
| Emirates | 6 | 0 |
| Etihad Airways | 4 | 0 |
| Cebu Pacific | 2 | 0 |
| Qatar Airways | 2 | 1 |
| Gulf Air | 1 | 0 |
| Total | 23 | 3 |
CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario emphasized that the Authority is taking proactive measures under the direct instructions of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez. “We are in constant coordination with our international aviation partners and local carriers to assess the situation in real-time,” said Lt. Gen. Del Rosario. “The safety and security of our passengers remains our absolute priority as we navigate these airspace restrictions.”
CAAP urges all travelers scheduled to fly to or from the Middle East to refrain from going to the airport without a confirmed flight status. Affected passengers are advised to:
-
Contact their airline directly for rebooking options or refund requests.
-
Monitor official airline websites and mobile apps for the latest flight notifications.
-
Check travel advisories issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
CAAP remains committed to providing updates as the situation develops and will continue to work alongside the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to ensure the integrity of Philippine aviation operations.
