Aviation leaders to gather in Singapore for IATA World Data Symposium 2026

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that the 2026 edition of the World Data Symposium (WDS) will take place in Singapore on 8–9 April 2026. This premier event will unite global leaders in data, technology, and cybersecurity to accelerate the digital evolution of the aviation industry.

Under the theme of driving industry-wide transformation, the 2026 Symposium focuses on three critical pillars:

  1. Strategic Data Utilization: Maximizing operational efficiency through data-driven decision-making.

  2. Cyber Resilience: Strengthening security readiness across the entire aviation value chain.

  3. AI & Automation: Leveraging emerging technologies to enhance performance and the passenger journey. “Data is one of aviation’s most powerful strategic assets,” said Kim Macaulay, IATA’s Senior Vice President Information & Data and Chief Information & Data Officer. “The WDS is an essential forum for professionals to share expertise and build a smarter, safer future. This second edition will deep-dive into how AI fits into our digital landscape and how we can ensure the industry remains cyber-resilient amidst accelerating innovation.”

The program features a diverse range of sessions designed to tackle the most pressing technological challenges in the sky and on the ground, including:

  • CEO Panel: A high-level discussion on the roadmap for digital transformation.

  • The AI Frontier: Dedicated sessions on Open AI and Agentic AI in aviation.

  • Digital Twins: Exploring virtual modeling for airports and aircraft to optimize performance.

  • Cross-Industry Innovation: A unique look at how “Smart Stadium” technology from the world of sports can inspire airport efficiency.
