Pres. Marcos Jr. bolsters national food security, secures price stability agreements with major manufacturers

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reassured the Filipino public on Friday that the national food supply remains robust and prices for necessities will stay stable, despite the volatility of the current global geopolitical landscape.

The President issued the statement following a high-level inspection of the Century Pacific Food Inc. (CPFI) distribution center in Laguna. During the visit, the President highlighted the successful coordination between the government and private sector to insulate consumers from sudden price spikes.

  • Guaranteed Supply: President Marcos confirmed that food stocks are sufficient for the long term, urging the public not to worry about shortages.

  • Price Freeze Commitment: Leading manufacturers, including CPFI, have committed to holding current price levels for at least one to two months, absorbing costs where possible to protect Filipino consumers.

  • Strategic Oversight: The administration is intensifying coordination with suppliers and processors to monitor inventory and logistics, ensuring that essential commodities remain accessible. “Ang supply ay hindi kailangan na mag-alala ang taong-bayan. Ang food supply natin ay sapat kahit na pangmatagalan,” President Marcos stated. “At bukod pa roon ay sila naman ay pumapayag to keep the prices… hangga’t kaya nila.”

Century Pacific Food Inc., the nation’s largest canned food manufacturer, demonstrated its readiness to navigate global challenges such as fluctuating oil prices and shipping disruptions. The company cited its history of disciplined planning and diversified sourcing as key factors in maintaining its operational stability.

President Marcos emphasized that while CPFI is a major partner, other processors and suppliers across the country have also provided assurances of sufficient inventory. The government will continue its rigorous monitoring of the market to safeguard public interest and ensure food sufficiency throughout the archipelago.
