The Department of Energy (DOE) has reaffirmed its commitment to energy security and regional cooperation following high-level discussions with Her Excellency Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Philippines. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration on regional energy developments as global oil markets continue to face volatility driven by ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
As fellow members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Philippines and the Kingdom of Thailand underscored the importance of close coordination in addressing shared energy challenges. Both parties emphasized the value of sustained dialogue and cooperation to promote supply stability, enhance energy resilience, and support economic growth across the region.
The discussions come at a critical time as fluctuations in global oil supply and pricing present challenges to energy-importing nations. In response, the DOE continues to proactively monitor developments in the international energy landscape while working closely with regional partners to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach.
The DOE reiterated its firm commitment to safeguarding the country’s energy needs, highlighting ongoing efforts to secure sufficient and reliable fuel supply for Filipino households, commuters, and businesses. These measures include strengthening supply chains, engaging with international partners, and implementing policies designed to cushion the impact of global market disruptions.
Through sustained regional cooperation and decisive national action, the DOE remains steadfast in its mission to ensure energy security and protect the welfare of the Filipino people amid an increasingly complex global energy environment.
