MARINA Region X launches ship compliance monitoring ahead of Holy Week and summer travel surge

In line with the directive of MARINA Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office X officially commenced on March 27, 2026, the implementation of intensified ship validation, compliance, and monitoring operations across all ports in Region X.

The initiative was formally launched at the Camiguin docks, led by Officer-in-Charge Archimedes Joel I. Monteroso, who headed the technical team in conducting on-site inspections and validation procedures. Similar activities are set to be carried out in key ports across Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte.

This proactive measure aims to strengthen passenger safety and ensure strict compliance with maritime regulations, particularly in anticipation of the increased volume of travelers during the Holy Week observance and the peak of the summer vacation season from March 28 to April 5.

In close coordination with partner agencies and port authorities, MARINA Regional Office X is conducting comprehensive inspections of passenger vessels. These include verification of safety equipment, operational readiness, and adherence to regulatory requirements prior to departure.

The monitoring operations also enforce recent maritime advisories, including the strict implementation of the “No Ticket, No Boarding” policy and the mandatory submission of accurate passenger manifests to ensure proper accounting and safety of all onboard.

MARINA Region X remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of the riding public by upholding the highest standards of maritime safety and operational compliance.
