DTI, supermarkets agree to keep prices of basic goods steady until April 16

Filipino consumers are assured of no increase in prices of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) until April 16, 2026, based on the commitment by supermarkets.
In a statement, the Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque said that she was able to secure an agreement with the Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association (PAGASA) to keep prices stable for the next weeks.
PAGASA Executive Director Steven T. Cua said member-supermarkets agreed to maintain current prices to protect consumers from sudden cost increases and support stable supply in the market.
Both Secretary Roque and Cua said that no price increase covers a wide range of BNPCs, including:
  • Food: Canned sardines, canned meat, instant noodles, coffee, processed milk, salt, bread, and condiments
  • Household & Hygiene: Laundry soap, bath soap, candles, batteries, and bottled water
To guide consumers and promote price transparency, the Department has made the official suggested retail price (SRP) bulletin widely accessible through:
  • In-store: Posted in supermarkets and groceries nationwide
  • Online: Available on the DTI website and will be posted on official social media platforms
The DTI and the Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association said the move helps keep prices steady and ensures reliable access to basic goods for Filipino families.
