DOTR sees completion of common train station in Q2 2027

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said construction of the common station or the Unified Grand Central Station (UGCS), which will ensure smooth transfer of passengers of MRT-7, MRT-3, LRT-1 and eventually the subway, should be completed by the second quarter of 2027.
“Once operational, we’re expecting 1.5 million passengers daily,” Lopez told the General Membership Meeting of the Management Association of the Philippines on Wednesday, April 8.
Also known as the North Triangle Common Station, the UGCS is located at the intersection of EDSA and North Avenue in Quezon City. It is situated near major malls – SM North EDSA and Trinoma.
The second quarter 2027 completion is also in time for the operation of the MRT-7, he said. Aside from MRT-7, the unified station will provide connectivity to two other train lines – MRT-3 and LRT-1. It will also serve connections once the subway goes online.
The DOTR terminated the common station contractor – BF Corporation and Foresight Development and Surveying Company (BFC-FDSC) Consortium – for unreasonable delays. The Light Rail Manila Corporation and Sumitomo are now taking over the construction of the common station.
