IBPAP welcomes approval of expanded work from home arrangement

The IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), which groups more than 400 outsourcing firms in the country, lauded the approval of expanded 90 percent work-from-home (WFH) flexibility for Registered Business Enterprises (RBEs).

IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid proposed this measure to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) in response to the emerging pressures of rising fuel costs, as a practical business continuity measure for IT-BPM companies and their workforce.

The government through the Fiscal Incentives and Review Board (FIRB) approved the expanded WFH arrangement under Resolution No. 005-2026.

This measure is expected to help manage potential disruptions linked to rising transportation costs, while supporting the well-being and productivity of employees who rely on daily commuting.

“This reflects how strong industry-government collaboration can translate into practical solutions for the IT-BPM sector’s evolving operational needs,” said Madrid.

For the IT-BPM sector, this development provides immediate relief for both companies and their workforce, helping ease cost pressures while enabling more flexible work arrangements. It allows the industry to remain agile, sustain service delivery, and continue meeting the demands of global clients amid a shifting operating environment.

IBPAP commends PEZA for its continued responsiveness to the industry’s recommendations and for advancing this measure. The Association also recognizes the FIRB for its prompt approval, reflecting how responsive government action can translate industry needs into timely and enabling policy support.

With over 400 members and strong partnerships across sectors, IBPAP plays a pivotal role in driving growth, innovation, and excellence in the industry.
