Pres. Marcos Jr. reaffirms commitment to worker dignity and job quality on Labor Day

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined the nation in observing Labor Day, issuing a powerful reaffirmation of the administration’s dedication to uplifting the Filipino workforce through the creation of high-quality employment, enhanced worker protections, and the pursuit of inclusive economic growth.

In a national address, the President emphasized that Labor Day transcends traditional observance, serving as a vital call to action for a unified partnership between the public and private sectors. The goal, he stated, is to cultivate a “Bagong Pilipinas” where hard work is met with tangible rewards and genuine opportunity.

“Today, we honor every member of our workforce whose hands carry the weight of our shared future—whether at sunrise, beneath the noonday heat, or in the long hours when the nation sleeps,” President Marcos said.

Acknowledging the evolving global economic landscape, the President assured the labor sector that his administration remains steadfast in defending the rights and dignity of every worker. Key pillars of the government’s labor agenda include:

  • Job Creation: Focusing on “more and better” employment opportunities to meet modern economic demands.

  • Enhanced Protection: Strengthening safeguards for worker rights and welfare across all industries.

  • Inclusive Pathways: Expanding access to training and resources to ensure no worker is left behind by technological shifts.

The Chief Executive lauded the indispensable skills and perseverance of the Filipino people, noting that while technology and industry advance rapidly, the human element remains the primary driver of national stability.

“You are, and will always be, the backbone of our Republic,” the President emphasized, highlighting that the strength of the Filipino family and the nation at large rests upon the dedication of its laborers.

President Marcos concluded his message with a vision of a more equitable future: “With you at the heart of our agenda, a stronger, more equitable, and more hopeful Bagong Pilipinas is well within reach. Mabuhay ang manggagawang Pilipino!”
