PH highlights investment strength and manufacturing growth at ASEAN executive dialogue in Cebu

The Philippines reinforced its standing as a rising investment destination and manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia during the ASEAN Business and Media Exchange 2026 Executive Dialogue held in Cebu.

Representing the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Secretary Cris A. Roque underscored the country’s strategic efforts to deepen trade partnerships, enhance supply chain resilience, and drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth across the region. He emphasized ongoing government initiatives aimed at empowering businesses and stakeholders, including expanded access to financing and strengthened loan assistance programs.

Held in parallel with the 48th ASEAN Summit activities, the executive dialogue served as a platform to showcase the Philippines’ commitment to economic transformation through innovation, policy reforms, and stronger regional integration.

The event also featured discussions on emerging industries shaping the region’s future. Veteran journalist Cathy Yang of Cignal TV led conversations on sustainable mobility, highlighting the Philippines’ growing role in the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

Industry leaders Mr. Ritsu Imaeda, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, and Ms. Elijah Sue C. Marcial, First Vice President for Vehicle Sales at Toyota Motor Philippines, joined the dialogue to explore opportunities across the EV value chain. Discussions focused on advancing innovation, strengthening industry collaboration, and accelerating the country’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transport solutions.

The dialogue reaffirmed the Philippines’ proactive role in fostering regional cooperation and positioning itself as a competitive and future-ready economy within ASEAN.
