Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac on Thursday assured continuous protection and assistance for the seven Filipino seafarers aboard the container ship San Antonio, following a reported drone attack in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, 05 May 2026.
Secretary Cacdac confirmed that all seven Filipino crew members survived the incident and are currently receiving medical care. Four seafarers sustained minor injuries, while three remain under intensive care.
“The welfare of our overseas Filipino workers, especially those serving in high-risk environments such as the maritime sector, remains our top priority,” Secretary Cacdac said.
The DMW, through its Migrant Workers Offices, is closely coordinating with hospital authorities to monitor the condition of the injured seafarers and ensure they receive appropriate medical treatment and care.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Filipino seafarers affected by international maritime security incidents. The government continues to monitor the situation closely and provide the necessary support to the seafarers and their families, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
