PEZA reaffirms support for PH-Japan healthcare manufacturing sector

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting Japanese investments and expanding the country’s healthcare manufacturing industry.

The declaration was made during the Business Partnership and Collaboration Ceremony between P. IMES Corp. and Japan Lifeline Co., Ltd., held at the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ) in Rosario, Cavite.

PEZA Acting Deputy Director General for Policy and Planning Emmanuel D. Cortero and CEZ Administrator Atty. Ross Vincent S. Sy joined executives from both companies to mark this new phase of medical technology collaboration, deeping the economic partnership between the Philippines and Japan.

A central highlight of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Business Partnership and Collaboration by Mr. Masashi Fujimori, Chairman of the IMES Group, and Mr. Toru Takamiya, Director and Senior Executive Officer of Japan Lifeline. Witnessed by PEZA officials, this milestone formalizes a strategic partnership anchored on an earlier March 27, 2026 agreement to scale up joint operations, innovation, and long-term growth in the medical device field.

During the ceremony, DDG Cortero praised P.IMES for its long-standing contributions to the local economy and noted the enduring confidence Japanese firms place in the Philippine investment climate.

“P.IMES is a long-time PEZA locator operating in CEZ since 1993, having invested more than PhP 3.3 billion and providing employment to over 1,000 Filipino workers,” Cortero stated.

Cortero also emphasized PEZA’s aggressive push to elevate the country’s healthcare manufacturing ecosystem. The agency is actively driving investment promotion, streamlining regulatory frameworks, upgrading infrastructure, and establishing specialized pharmaceutical and medical ecozones—coined “Pharmazones”—in strategic growth areas nationwide.

The event concluded with a symbolic tree-planting activity and fellowship session, representing the shared commitment of P.IMES, Japan Lifeline, and PEZA toward sustainable industrial growth, innovation, and healthcare advancement in the Philippines.
