The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced a significant milestone for its “Pamilya Pass 1+3” program, recording a 95% increase in passenger participation for the month of May 2026.
Total ridership under the program jumped to 97,894, nearly doubling the 50,295 passengers recorded in April 2026. This surge highlights a growing public shift toward mass transit and an increased appreciation for family-centric commuter incentives.
The Pamilya Pass 1+3 Program is designed to make weekend travel more accessible for Filipino households. Under the initiative, one paying adult passenger can bring up to three family members or companions for free every Sunday on the LRT-2 line.
“The continued growth in ridership reflects a positive reception from the public. This program does more than just offer transport savings; it promotes family bonding and encourages a culture of using public transportation as a sustainable way to navigate the city,” the LRTA stated.
The LRTA remains committed to introducing initiatives that support affordable travel. Passengers looking to utilize the Pamilya Pass can follow these simple steps:
-
When: Every Sunday.
-
Where: Available at any ticket booth across LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 stations.
-
How: Upon the purchase of a regular ticket, the passenger will be issued Pamilya Pass coupons.
-
