The Embassy of Sweden in Manila, in partnership with Business Sweden, officially launched the results of the 2026 Business Climate Survey (BCS). The report highlights a powerful narrative of resilience and growth: Swedish companies are firmly staying the course, with 63% planning to increase their investments in the Philippines over the next 12 months.
This strong investment sentiment is driven by deep confidence in the country’s robust economic growth potential, a highly skilled and talented workforce, and its strategic position within the Asia-Pacific region.
The exclusive launch brought together Swedish business leaders, government officials, and key industry partners to discuss the survey’s implications for bilateral trade and economic collaboration.
Ambassador Anna Ferry opened the event, welcoming delegates and emphasizing the enduring partnership between Sweden and the Philippines. Joining her was Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Secretary Ernesto V. Perez, whose presence underscored a shared, high-level commitment to streamlining bureaucracy and improving the regulatory landscape. Swedish firms consistently identify the “ease of doing business” as a critical factor for their long-term operations and expansions.
During the presentation of the report, Trade Commissioner Johan Lennefalk and Business Sweden’s Sophia Mauleon walked participants through the comprehensive survey results, highlighting:
-
Sustained Capital Commitment: The 63% expansion rate underscores the Philippines’ status as a premier investment destination in Southeast Asia.
-
Talent Advantage: Swedish enterprises continue to leverage the high adaptability and English proficiency of the Filipino workforce.
-
Regulatory Alignment: Ongoing collaborations with agency partners like ARTA are viewed as pivotal to maintaining long-term investor confidence.
The presentations were followed by an interactive panel discussion moderated by Giselle Yap, Senior Trade Promotion Officer from the Embassy of Sweden, which explored actionable strategies to further deepen Swedish-Philippine economic ties.
“The 2026 Business Climate Survey results demonstrate that Swedish companies see immense, untapped value in the Philippines. By continuing to address bureaucratic challenges and fostering an open, transparent market, we can unlock even greater shared prosperity.”
