As part of continuing efforts to strengthen the nation’s statistical system, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) signed a landmark Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the BSP Head Office in Malate, Manila.
The agreement establishes a framework to streamline Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) data sharing among the three institutions. Under the MOA, the SEC will share corporate registration records and investment-related data via its digital platforms—including the SEC Swift Corporate and Other Records Exchange (SCORE) Protocol and the SEC API Marketplace. The PSA will serve as the central repository for FDI data, while the BSP will act as the compiler of official FDI statistics.
This collaborative arrangement aims to elevate the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of Philippine FDI statistics, reinforcing sound economic policymaking and boosting investor confidence.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by key leaders from the finance and statistical sectors, including Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Frederick D. Go, PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD (National Statistician and Civil Registrar General), BSP Deputy Governor Zeno Ronald R. Abenoja (Monetary and Economics Sector), and SEC Chairperson Francisco Ed. Lim.
Also in attendance were PSA Assistant Secretary Divina Gracia L. del Prado (Deputy National Statistician, Sectoral Statistics Office) and PSA Assistant National Statistician Mark C. Pascasio (Macroeconomic Accounts Service).
Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD said:
“FDI statistics help us understand how investors view our economy and where opportunities for growth are emerging. They provide the government with a clearer picture of investment flows across industries and support decisions that promote sustainable economic growth. Simply put, better investment statistics lead to better policies, stronger investor confidence, and a more competitive Philippine economy.”
BSP Deputy Governor Zeno Ronald R. Abenoja said:
“Comprehensive and reliable data are essential to sound economic policymaking. Through this partnership, the BSP, SEC, and PSA are strengthening the quality of FDI statistics, enabling us to understand better where foreign investments come from, where they go, and how they contribute to the Philippine economy.”
SEC Chairperson Francisco Ed. Lim said: “If the Philippines is to compete more effectively for investments, we must tell our story with accuracy, consistency, and credibility. The SEC committed to help build a more comprehensive and internationally aligned framework for measuring foreign direct investments—combining data from the SEC, banking data from the BSP, and the statistical expertise of the PSA.”
