DOF highlights regulatory reforms and urges private sector collaboration at HSBC flagship event

The Department of Finance (DOF) has reaffirmed its commitment to streamlining the nation’s business landscape to fast-track economic expansion.

Speaking on behalf of Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go, Undersecretary Michael Peter A. Alejandro delivered the keynote address at the HSBC Flagship Event, themed “Philippines Forward: Building the Future, Accelerating Growth.”

The high-level summit convened HSBC executives, industry leaders, and key sector representatives to strategize on actionable investment opportunities capable of transitioning from the drawing board to real-world execution within a tight window of six to 12 months.

During his keynote address, Undersecretary Alejandro emphasized the DOF’s aggressive push toward comprehensive policy initiatives and institutional reforms designed to transform the Philippine market.

  • Enhancing Accessibility: Modernizing processes to drastically improve the overall ease of doing business for domestic and foreign enterprises alike.

  • Cost Optimization: Implementing targeted measures to reduce operational hurdles and the financial cost of doing business in the country.

  • Regulatory Stability: Fostering greater policy predictability to give investors the long-term confidence required for large-scale capital deployment. “Our objective is clear: to build an ecosystem where businesses can thrive without friction, backed by consistent policies and a government that actively champions private sector growth,” Undersecretary Alejandro noted.

Highlighting the symbiotic relationship between government policy and private enterprise, the DOF called upon business leaders to lean into bold investments and technological innovations. Alejandro stressed that collaborative momentum is vital to translating national economic targets into tangible opportunities and high-quality employment for Filipinos.

The HSBC summit served as a critical platform for aligning public sector reform with private sector execution, ensuring that strategic discussions immediately pivot toward fast-tracked implementation and sustainable, inclusive economic progress.
