BYD Cars is distributed by Mobility Access Philippines Ventures Inc. (MAPVI), a subsidiary of the Ayala Group of Companies that also distributes other car brands such as Volkswagen, Kia, and Honda in the Philippines.
Of these, 2,078 comprised the BYD Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han, and Tang. With a 69% market share in the BEV segment, BYD leads the country in battery-electric vehicles sold in 2024.
The remarkable sales performance of its electric vehicle offerings propelled BYD’s overall growth by an astounding 8,900% in 2024 compared to 2023 sales. Strong sales confirmed BYD’s rank as the 11th best-selling automotive brand in the Philippines, with a 1.0% market share, even bettering several established big automotive players and other Chinese brands.
“We are beyond thrilled to share our performance in 2024, marking a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our team, the unwavering support of our dealer partners and suppliers, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we will continue driving the Philippines toward a smarter and greener future with innovative and accessible solutions.”
Globally, BYD also set another sales record in 2024 with 4,272,145 NEV units, up 41.26% from 2023. This milestone is the first time BYD has sold more than 4 million units in one year. The new sales record makes BYD the undisputed Global New Energy Vehicle Market Sales Champion.
Another key factor in BYD’s astonishing growth in the Philippines last year has been its rapid and extensive dealership expansion.
At the start of 2024, BYD had only two dealerships. Last year, it closed with 25 operational dealerships in various locations nationwide. Working tirelessly to introduce quality customer service to all corners of the country, BYD Cars Philippines has already green-lit 52 dealer locations to bring BYD electric vehicles and services to more areas in 2025.
“The growing network of BYD dealerships and service centers and ACMobility’s expanding footprint of EV charging stations across the country are part of the dynamic ecosystem ACMobility envisions in supporting and encouraging the country’s transition towards electric mobility,” added Palanca.
