Transport chief inspects airports and ports to fast-track travel improvements

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s directive to enhance the safety and comfort of passengers across the country’s transportation hubs, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon continues his comprehensive inspection of key airports and ports nationwide.

Secretary Dizon recently visited Clark International Airport in Pampanga to assess current facilities and ensure their compliance with international safety standards. This inspection forms part of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) broader initiative to elevate the quality of travel infrastructure and services in the Philippines.

Earlier this week, Secretary Dizon also inspected Matnog Port in Sorsogon, one of the busiest maritime gateways in the Bicol Region. He was joined by Senate President Chiz Escudero, Sorsogon Governor Jose Edwin Hamor, and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago. The visit focused on enhancing operational efficiency and passenger convenience at the port.

During the inspection, Secretary Dizon issued directives aimed at accelerating the docking and sailing procedures of ships traveling between Matnog and Allen, Samar. Additionally, plans were discussed for the construction of an expanded holding area to accommodate the growing number of trucks and buses currently queued along the highway leading to the port.

“These efforts are part of our commitment to modernize and streamline our transportation facilities,” said Secretary Dizon. “By improving infrastructure and operations, we’re not just meeting international standards—we’re making travel safer, faster, and more comfortable for every Filipino.”

The DOTr is set to continue nationwide inspections in the coming weeks, covering more airports, ports, and land terminals, with the goal of delivering a seamless and reliable travel experience throughout the country.
