DOE intensifies nationwide fuel monitoring to ensure supply stability and fair pricing

The Department of Energy (DOE) is heightening its oversight of fuel prices and supply conditions across the country in response to ongoing developments in the Middle East that continue to impact the global oil market.

To protect Filipino consumers, the DOE has mobilized its deputized partner agencies—including Local Government Units (LGUs), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Electrification Administration (NEA), and the National Power Corporation (NPC). This inter-agency task force is conducting on-the-ground inspections of retail fuel stations, even during holiday periods, to ensure compliance with national standards.

The coordinated efforts are designed to safeguard the public interest through three primary pillars:

Inventory Integrity: Verifying that stations maintain proper fuel stock levels to prevent artificial shortages.

Price Transparency: Ensuring fair pricing practices are followed and preventing unjustified price hikes.

Operational Order: Maintaining orderly operations at retail outlets to serve the community efficiently.

While monitoring is rigorous, the DOE remains committed to the seamless flow of commerce. The Department is actively supporting the fuel requirements of critical sectors, ensuring that monitoring activities do not disrupt the following essential services:

Public and Cargo Transport

Agriculture and Fisheries

Telecommunications

Vital Government Operations

Healthcare and Emergency services

“When there is full cooperation and compliance across the sector, prices are less likely to spike due to artificial shortages,” the DOE stated. “This synergy allows economic activity to persist and ensures that no community is left without access to essential energy resources during critical periods.”

The DOE continues to remind the public and stakeholders that stability in the local market relies on transparency and fairness. By protecting the supply chain from exploitation, the Department aims to uphold a balanced environment where businesses can operate without disruption and services remain available to all Filipinos.
