In a strategic move to fortify the country’s renewable energy sector and address global energy security challenges, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has registered Genuine Renewable Energy and Eco-Friendly Energy Network Corp. (GREEENC) as its newest ecozone enterprise.
The registration agreement was formalized on April 13, 2026, at the PEZA Head Office. The signing ceremony featured PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and GREEENC Chairman Joseph P. Aguilar, witnessed by PEZA Deputy Director General for Finance and Administration Anidelle Joy M. Alguso and GREEENC Corporate Treasurer Marcela M. Saludo.
Operating out of the Light Industry and Science Park III – Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, GREEENC is set to manufacture, assemble, and export high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.
Key highlights of the project include:
-
Initial Investment: Php 370 million.
-
Projected Export Revenue: USD 132 million during the incentivized period.
-
Target Markets: Primarily the European Union (EU), positioning the Philippines as a vital link in the international green energy supply chain.
-
Product Versatility: Solar panels designed for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, utility-scale, and off-grid applications.
This initiative directly supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s renewable energy agenda, which emphasizes energy diversification and the expansion of domestic green industries. By localized solar manufacturing, the project reduces the nation’s carbon footprint while fostering a climate-resilient economy.
“This investment is particularly impactful in today’s global context,” said DG Tereso Panga. “As nations grapple with energy insecurity and rising fuel costs, projects like GREEENC strengthen long-term resilience. They do more than just generate jobs—they reduce our reliance on imported fossil fuels and mitigate vulnerabilities during global crises.”
The entry of GREEENC underscores the Philippines’ growing reputation as an emerging hub for advanced renewable energy technologies. By providing high-tech solutions for clean energy deployment, PEZA and GREEENC are working together to ensure a “future-ready” Philippines that contributes meaningfully to global sustainability targets.
