BOC Subport of MCT tours MICTSI facility, reforms partnership for digitally-driven trade efficiency

In a solid step toward accelerating trade modernization and enhancing terminal efficiency in Northern Mindanao, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Subport of Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) recently conducted a comprehensive on-site facility inspection and operational tour of the Mindanao International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (MICTSI) at the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate.

Led by Subport Collector Nasrudin D. Guro, the BOC delegation met with MICTSI executives to review the terminal’s current operations, infrastructure roadmaps, and cutting-edge logistics technologies. As a premier trade gateway, the Mindanao Container Terminal plays a critical role in facilitating international commerce and managing vessel cargo flows across the region.

During the briefing, MICTSI President and CEO Aurelio C. Garcia and Terminal Manager Atty. Gemma M. Gloria outlined several ongoing system enhancements and key infrastructure development projects. These initiatives are strategically engineered to boost cargo-handling capacity and streamline logistics to match the growing demands of Northern Mindanao’s expanding trade market.

A major highlight of the discussion was the utilization of advanced digital tools like the RADAR System App. This application empowers stakeholders by allowing them to track the real-time status and movement of their containers while inside the MICTSI facility, vastly improving supply chain transparency.

Collector Guro commended MICTSI’s management for their proactive investments in technology and infrastructure.

“MICTSI’s continuous pursuit of operational excellence and dedication to adapting to the evolving needs of our trade stakeholders is highly commendable,” Guro stated. “Embracing these digital solutions is exactly what the region needs to remain competitive.”

This collaborative engagement aligns with the strategic guidance of Cagayan de Oro District Collector Atty. Manuel O. Zurbito, Jr. and the direct mandate of BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno. It underscores the agency’s commitment to fortifying industry partnerships under the Bureau of Customs’ Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Movement.
