ASF cases in Nueva Vizcaya remain contained

The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) clarifies that the African Swine Fever (ASF) cases detected in Nueva Vizcaya this year are not indicative of an ongoing widespread outbreak. The reports were isolated cases that have been promptly addressed and remain under control, with no evidence of transmission or spread in the province.

Records from the Provincial Veterinary Services Office (PVSO) show that 23 ASF cases were reported in 2026 across the municipalities of Kasibu, Bayombong, and Villaverde. Veterinary authorities emphasized that these detections were localized and have been effectively managed through surveillance, movement control, and disease containment measures.

The ASF case reported in Kasibu in February 2026 has already been contained through the coordinated response of the PVSO, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office, and the BAI. The case involved a single farmer and is no longer active based on current monitoring and surveillance results.

The BAI assures the public and the swine industry that veterinary authorities continue to closely monitor the situation and implement appropriate control measures to prevent disease spread. Farmers are encouraged to immediately report suspected cases and strictly observe farm biosecurity protocols to support the early detection and rapid containment of ASF.
