The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and the Nordic Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (Nordic) are exploring strategic opportunities on maritime systems, advanced manufacturing critical infrastructure, artificial intelligence.
PEZA delegation led by Deputy Director General for Finance and Administration Anidelle Joy M. Alguso, met with NordCham, represented by Executive Director Axel Fries on June 18, to to explore strategic opportunities for the planned Nordic–Philippines Strategic Defense Alliance Summit (SDAS) 2027.
Set on 05–07 April 2027 in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, the summit is envisioned as a premier platform for strengthening cooperation between the Philippines and the Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden—renowned for their leadership in innovation, sustainability, advanced manufacturing, maritime technologies, aerospace systems, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and other high-value industries.
Bringing together government leaders, defense institutions, technology innovators, and industry stakeholders, the summit will spotlight emerging sectors shaping the future of security and economic competitiveness, including artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, secure communications, critical infrastructure protection, defense electronics, maritime systems, and advanced manufacturing.
SDAS 2027 comes at a pivotal time when nations are strengthening resilient supply chains, accelerating technological advancement, and pursuing greater industrial self-reliance.
For PEZA, the significance of the summit extends far beyond defense cooperation. It presents a strategic opportunity to attract high-value and dual-use investments with applications across both civilian and strategic industries, while strengthening the country’s position within global technology and manufacturing supply chains.
These sectors align closely with PEZA’s priority industries, including semiconductors, electronics, information and communications technology, precision engineering, aerospace components, robotics, and other innovation-driven industries.
“Strategic partnerships are most meaningful when they create tangible opportunities for growth. Through SDAS 2027, PEZA looks forward to translating our collaboration with Nordic partners into high-value investments, technology transfer, and innovation-driven industries,” said DDG Alguso.
By leveraging PEZA ecozones, competitive incentives, modern infrastructure, and world-class Filipino talent, she said, the Philippines is very well positioned as a trusted hub for next-generation industries and resilient supply chains serving both regional and global markets.
