The Toyota Land Cruiser is now available as an HEV

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially adds an electrified variant for the LAND CRUISER. The Land Cruiser HEV makes its way to the country as TMP continues to further expand its lineup to cater to its customers’ different lifestyles and as part of the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Previewed at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show, the Land Cruiser HEV is set to bring the legendary nameplate into the electrified vehicle market. Guided by Toyota’s multi-pathway approach and mission of empowering people to choose what is proven, the Land Cruiser HEV offers a new motor and engine to accommodate the changing needs of customers.

Built To Last, Born to Lead

Built on a legendary 70-year legacy of quality, durability, and reliability, the Land Cruiser nameplate has been in production ever since 1951. First known as the Jeep BJ it later gained the name “Land Cruiser” towards the end of its production. Toyota would then improve upon the platform, creating a legendary reputation as a powerful and reliable off-roading machine.

The nameplate would then find its way to the Philippines with the Land Cruiser 80’s debut in 1990. The car featured a major upgrade to its comfortability, features, and technology, built on top of an already impressive package courtesy of its predecessors. The renowned SUV would garner a deep following, spawning many Land Cruiser enthusiast communities creating an unbreakable heritage spanning across many years. Land Cruisers from different generations can still be seen in Philippine roads, a combined testament to the car’s reliability, proven performance, and faithful following it has created in the country.

The Legend Enters an Electrified Era

The current iteration of the car, the Land Cruiser 300, is a full-sized SUV built to take on urban roads and the off road. The car has a 3.3 V6 Twin Turbo diesel engine producing 306 PS, with a 10-speed automatic gearbox ensuring a smooth yet powerful experience for those behind the wheel. Just like the Land Cruisers that came before it, the Land Cruiser 300 has become a staple SUV for Filipinos who are looking for a car that is built to last on top of legendary performance.

As part of Toyota’s efforts in empowering people with the power of choice, the Land Cruiser now comes as a hybrid electric vehicle through the addition of an electric motor producing 49 PS alongside the 3.5 Twin Turbo V6 engine’s 415 PS. The new engine will also now run on gasoline instead of diesel. The hybrid variant also comes with electric power steering to provide a lighter driving experience. The exterior will also have a subtle but noticeable change with the inclusion of Aero with Jet-Black Garnish. These new features and additions to the car is set to usher it into the electrified era, with the Land Cruiser combining a heritage of proven power and durability with innovative hybrid technology.

“The Land Cruiser HEV is part of Toyota’s efforts in offering different powertrains that address our customers’ needs and lifestyles. Customers who want to experience the legendary heritage and proven performance of the Land Cruiser while having access to Toyota’s hybrid technology will find this car to be the perfect choice as their partner on the road. We hope the addition of the Land Cruiser HEV to Toyota’s wide lineup of cars gives our customers the power of choice when it comes to their mobility needs,” shared TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial.

Customers may purchase the Land Cruiser HEV in the following colors: Attitude Black Mica, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic and Precious White Pearl as a premium color.
