In a major initiative to safeguard millions of commuters across the country, the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) completed a comprehensive series of security audits from July 20 to July 31, 2026, targeting strategic land and express transport facilities nationwide.
The extensive audit covered critical transit nodes, including the Tungawan Integrated Bus Terminal in Zamboanga Sibugay, the Pangasinan Five Star Bus Co., Inc. terminal and Mhel Bhen Corporation bus operations in Pangasinan, as well as the toll operations of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corporation.
Prior to physical inspections, specialized audit teams from the OTS Land Transportation Security Division (LTSD) held entry briefings with facility managers to align on audit scope, objectives, and evaluation criteria. Auditors then conducted detailed interviews and on-site assessments, focusing on the protection of security-restricted areas and evaluating current control measures against potential security threats.
These nation-wide assessments underscore the OTS’s unwavering commitment to ensuring full compliance with national security standards across all transport sectors. The initiative directly aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to continuously elevate transportation security protocols, guaranteeing a safe, resilient, and reliable transit system for the commuting Filipino public.
