PAL expands Cebu hub with new routes, more flights

Philippine Airlines (PAL) is enhancing its Cebu hub by launching a new Cebu-Catarman route and increasing the frequency of flights between Cebu and Siargao.

Starting March 1, PAL will introduce a thrice-weekly service connecting Cebu with Catarman City, the capital of Northern Samar, and a key commercial and educational center in Eastern Visayas.
Additionally, from March 1, PAL will boost its popular Cebu-Siargao services by adding midmorning flights on Wednesdays and Sundays, bringing the total to 18 weekly flights between Cebu and Siargao Island, renowned for its surfing spots, pristine beaches, white sand islets, and hidden lagoons.

“Philippine Airlines is pleased to enhance services to Catarman with this new link from Cebu. Samar residents and travelers will now have better access to Cebu, and the new route will also provide Cebuanos with more options to visit Northern Samar,” said PAL Express President Rabbi Ang.

“The new Cebu hub services to Catarman and Siargao are part of our ongoing commitment to improve inter-island connectivity, boost tourism, and stimulate business,” said Ang.

“We are delighted to partner with the Northern Samar government authorities and the local community to support the success of this new route to Catarman,” he added.

The Cebu-Catarman flights will be operated using the 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8 Series 400 Next Generation aircraft, offering near-jet speeds and quieter comfort compared to similar aircraft.

Travelers from Catarman City can use PAL’s Cebu hub to conveniently connect to destinations such as Caticlan (Boracay), Clark, Busuanga (Coron), Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, and Siargao.

PAL also serves Catarman with four weekly flights to and from Manila.

To promote the new Cebu-Catarman-Cebu service, PAL is offering a special introductory base fare as low as PHP 698. This fare is available until January 31 for travel starting March 1.
The flag carrier also serves Siargao with two daily flights to and from Manila, and three weekly flights from Clark.
